1 Michelin Star & 17 GaultMillau Points
The traditional house, Krone Säumerei am Inn in La Punt Chamues-ch, whose roots trace back to the 16th century, tells the story of the muleteers who once transported goods, ideas, and stories across the Alpine passes. Today, the Krone presents itself as a stylishly renovated boutique hotel, combining historical charm with modern design.
The individually designed rooms impress with local wood, natural stone, fine fabrics, and great attention to detail. The house also connects to its history culinarily: In the restaurant “La Chavallera,” James Baron combines the culinary treasures of the Alps with ingredients that were once brought to the Engadine by muleteers. Thus, the Krone becomes a place where heritage, hospitality, and indulgence come together in a special way.
Since summer 2022, James Baron has shaped the culinary signature of the Krone Säumerei am Inn as host and head chef. The British top chef combines Alpine tradition with modern influences and leads his kitchen with precision, creativity, and international experience. Stations such as Restaurant Amber in Hong Kong, Hotel Tannenhof in St. Anton, and Schloss Schauenstein attest to his impressive career. At the Krone, he develops a cuisine that delightfully connects history and present, enchanting guests with character, depth, and sophistication.
